Last spring my house was experiencing an unusually robust population outburst of fungus gnats. They seemed prone to visit bodies of water where they would paddle around a bit then not be able to get out, thus meeting their maker down in the depths of someone's drinking vessel. It reminded me of an old joke that I heard somewhere along the way.
“An Englishmen, a German and an Irishman all walk into a bar to order a drink. The server arrives and places their beers in front of them, and each has a fly floating around in it. The Englishman refuses the order and tells the server to take it back. The German just scoops out the fly, tosses it on the ground and proceeds to start in on his beer. The Irishman, enraged, picks up the fly and squeezes it real hard, yelling “Spit it out ya bastard, every last drop of it!!”
